I am a visual artist and High Priestess of Creativity based in Melbourne, Victoria. With a Doctorate in Communications from Edith Cowan University, my work is devoted to inspiring self-expression and nurturing personal growth through the transformative fusion of mindfulness and art.
My journey into creativity for self-care began over 20 years ago alongside my photography practice, as I explored ways to use creativity as a tool for healing and connection. Over the years, I’ve founded several innovative businesses, including Disruptor Web, Delame and Co Collection, Virtual Openings and now Catherine Gomersall Gallery.
My artistic path has also led me to work as a community artist, nanny, and support worker in the expressive therapies space, where I combine creative skills with compassionate care. My artwork has been showcased nationally and internationally in galleries and festivals, reflecting the depth of my creative expression.
My conscious journey into mindfulness began alongside my photography practice when I first stepped onto a yoga mat during my university years in Brisbane. Back then, I was navigating the leap from a small regional city to the so-called "Big Smoke," juggling studies and creative dreams while living resourcefully. Those formative years, though challenging, shaped my resilience and taught me the value of staying true to my inner calling.
There were moments of hardship—like surviving a freezing winter in Ballarat with no heating and little more than potatoes from the garden—but those experiences strengthened my resourcefulness and connection to my inner truth. While I occasionally strayed from my creative path in search of financial security, something always guided me back to my centre. Creativity wasn’t just a career choice; it became my compass, my way of navigating life with purpose and clarity.
Creative mindfulness naturally became my companion on this journey, helping me meet challenges with open eyes and an open heart. It’s not about escaping life’s difficulties but embracing them fully, finding grace and presence in every moment.
Today, my mission is to guide others toward self-expression and empowerment by weaving mindfulness and art into their lives. Whether through personal reflection or collaborative artistic endeavors, I believe creativity is a powerful tool for transformation. For support workers and nannies, my diverse background offers a unique perspective and practical tools to incorporate mindfulness and artistic expression into meaningful client care.
Wherever you are on your journey, I encourage you to trust the quiet pull of your inner voice and embrace what makes you uniquely you. Together, we can explore the magic of creativity as a source of connection, healing, and joy.
